Abstract

Bone biopsies were collected from the fracture sites and subjected to histopathological and gram staining for the diagnosis and evaluation of therapeutic response in caprine in which traumatic osteomyelitis was produced. Sections showed signs of acute inflammatory changes at day 15, bony necrosis at day 30, presence of new bone formation and bridging callus at day 60 and signs of remodelling at day 90. Gram staining of bone sections at day 15 and 30 revealed bacterial presence in the bony lytic area and Haversian canals.
