Abstract

The subcommissural organ of sheep structurally had ependyma. subependymal glia zone and hypendyma. Pseudostratified columnar ciliated ependyma showed 3 types of cells. Basal cytoplasmic processes of ependymal cellsmainly constituted subependymal glia zone along with blood capillaries. nerve fibres and glia cells. Hypendymal cells were classified into 2 types. A strong PAS-reaction was present towards intercellular junctions and basal cytoplasmic processes of ependymal cells. A strong positive PAS- reaction and proteins were noticed in Reissner's fibre.
