Abstract

Debudding wounds in calves and branding wounds in heifers were selected as model for burn wounds in this study. Four groups comprising a minimum of Ganimals each were treated with the following medicaments like calendula glycerine (CG) alone in group 1, calendula glycerine and himax (CG+H) in group 2, calendula glycerine and calendula ointment (CG+CO) in group 3 and calendula glycerine and lorexane (CG+L) in group 4. Wound medicament like CG alone was commendable in healing burn wounds followed by its combination with lorexane when parameters like wound contraction, type and extent of exudate, granulation tissue formation and formation of epithelial scab were considered. Combination ofCG with himax and CO showed less wound contraction but the wounds remained dry at the end of observation period. The paraffin base of calendula ointment and that of himax were observed to impair the healthy healing.
