Follicular development in the ovary of cyclic Indian buffalo (Buhalus bubalis)

All types of developing follicles, viz. primordial, primary, secondary tertiary/Graafian and atretic were present in th~ cyclic buffalo ovary. The primordial and primary follicles could be seen either singly or in groups. The mean diameter of primordial and primary follicles was 22.93±I.25 and 22.94±1. 16 )..Lm respectively. Zona pellucida was the first to be noted in the primary follicle at its late stage of development. The average size of the secondary follicle was 81.77±6.23 /.lm. The average size of small tertiary/Graafian follicle was 435±29.29 /lm and of large follicles 126.01±666.70 /lm.
