Aerontonas hydrophila infection in koi carp and gold fish

Aeromonas hydrophila was isolated from diseased koi carp and gold fish showing skin lesions. The bacteria were confirmed based on cultural characters, biochemical characters and structural morphology under electron microscope. Histological lesions were observed in intestine, spleen, liver, kidney and heart. The bacteria was susceptible to gentamycin, ciprofloxacin, chloramphenicol and oxytetracycline but resistant to erythromycin, nitrofurantoin and penicillin.
