Some rare and new monogenetic trematodes from airbreathing freshwater fishes of Bangladesh

Abstract

Infestation of monogenelic trematodes on airbreathing fishes Clarias batrachus, Heteropnellsles fossilis, Colisa fasciala and Anabus testudineus were investigated. Fish sample were collected from farms of institute and local catch (beels and rivers). Six species of monogeneans were collected from the gill filaments of these investigated fishes. Among them. 3 new species Heteronehocleidus colisal. H. bangladesh. and H.anabusi were described along with 'previously recorded Bychowskyella tchangi Gussev, 1976, Quadricanthus kobiensis Ha Ky, 1968 and Heteronchocleidus buschkiella Bychowsky, 1957. All these parasites were recovered for the first time from Bangladesh.
