Abstract

The histomorphometrical studies on the blood air barrier were carried out in 3 mithuns, yaks and zebus. The blood air barrier was the thinnest in mithun, being less thicker in zebu, but relatively more thicker in yak. The average thickness, was 0.5 to 1.3 Jlm in mithun, 0.8 to 1.4 /lm in zebu, and 1 to 1.6 Jlm in yak. The recticular and elastic fibers could be observed more in yak and zebu in comparision to that of mithun. The septal wall was thin in mithun.
