Abstract

Effect of group size on the developmental competencel potential ofcaprine embryos was evaluated. Oocytes matured in vitro with somatic cell co-culture were fertilized in vitro and the presumptive zygotes were cultured in groups of 5, 10, 15 and 20 in 100 III EDM. It was observed that the cleavage rate did not improve due to the number of the embryos, but the large group favoured subsequent embryo development up to norula stage. It may therefore, be concluded that culture of cleaved oocytes in groups of 1020, having small amount ofmedia enhances the development of competence of in vitro produced caprine embryos.
