Abstract

Ultrasonographic monitoring of ovarian follicular development in HF crossbred cows throughout the oestrous cycle revealed that all the cows exhibited 3 waves per cycle with the mean days of emergence on days 2.0±O.82, 8.5±l.O and 12.75±1.26 respectively. The mean length of oestrous cycle was 20.0±O.89 days. The mean maximum diameter of third wave dominant (ovulatory) follicle was larger than dominant follicles of previous waves and second wave dominant follicle was smaller than other two. It was found that, 55.56% of dominant follicles developed in the ovary having corpus luteum than the contralateral ovary.
