Effect of inbreeding on birth weight of Turkish buffalo

The study was conducted to estimate effect of inbreeding on Turkish buffalo calves raised at Kocatepe State Farm. The least squares means for birth weight were 31.57±O.47 kg. The effects oi~'sex or birth weight was significant (P<0.05)whereas the effect of inbreeding on birth weight was highly significant (P<0.05)whereas the effect of inbreeding on birth weight was highly significant (P<0.01).Birth weight decreased by 0.121 kg for each increase of 1% in the inbreeding coefficient.
