Abstract

Crossbred cows with (267) or without (74) metestrual bleeding post estrus were divided in 2 treatment (progesterone and Lugol's iodine) and 2 control (untreated and normal control) groups. The administration of progesterone improved conception rates in animals .with metestrual bleeding when given on day 3 (50.53%) or day 5 (47.06%) post insemination. There was no improvement in conception following the treatment with progesterone on day of AI (30.23%) or Lugol's iodine (26.67%) as compared to that obtained in untreated control (25.8%) cows.
