A non-significantly lower Hb, PCV and TEC and nonsignificantly higher TLC were observed in leucodermic buffaloes compared to the healthy control. New methylene blue stained blood smears revealed Heinz bodies in RBCs of all the leucodermic buffaloes, with their numbers varying between 1-2 % of the RBCs. Scanning electron micrograph of RBCs of leucodermic buffaloes revealed poikilocytosis. The mean plasma activities of ALT, AST, ALP and CK-NAC enzymes were significantly higher in leucodermic cases. However, the plasma levels of GGT, LDH and ceruloplasmin showed nonsignificant variations. Hyperglycemia along with nonsignificantly higher total plasma proteins, albumin, globulin, albumin : globulin ratio, bilirubin, BUN and creatinine levels were recorded in affected animals as compared to healthy controls.
