Abstract

The histomorphological studies revealed that the development offoetal kidney in buffalo oceun'ed in 3 stages, Le. pronephros, mesonephros and metanephros. The pro~hroswas observed at 3 em CRL (42 days) then started degenerating at 3.5 em CRL (45 days) and complete degeneration of pronephros occurred at 4.1 em CRL (47 days). The micrometrical observatios recorded on the pronephric tubules showed that the tu~ular and luminal diameters ofthese tubules decreased with the' increase in the age of foetus. This may be due to the degeneration of pronephros during early foetal life as it is non functional kidney in the mammals.
