Abstract

Electrophoretic profile ofprotein/peptides present in the pineal gland, obtained from female goats during follicular and luteal phase ofoestrous cycle, was studied. Extracts prepared from the pineal gland during these phases ofoestrous cycle were ?,10kDa and electrophoresed under denaturing discontinuous conditions with constant voltage. Follicular and luteal phase fractions showed presence of33 and 24 protein bands respectively. The protein bands having molecular weights .. 11,13.5,14,33,46,54,94 and 100 kDa were absent in pineal fractions obtained during luteal phase. The present study indicated considerable variation in pineal protein/peptide electrophoretic profile with respect to stage of oestrous cycle.
