Haematuric dogs (20) were subjected to clinical. urological. radiological and ultrasonographic evaluation. Urge incontinence. high urine residual volume( 15.16±1.05 ml kg¯¹), intact perineal and bulbospongious reflexes 142.5±25.96 RBC hpf¯¹,7.6 ± 2.11 WBC hpf¯¹, 4.3±0.48 struvite crystals Ii pP1.3.05+0.83 transitional cells hpf¯¹. 3.95+0.62 micro-organisms per oil field with predominance of E. coli, S. aureus or Streptocoeci sp. wcre suggestive of cystitis as a cause of terminal/ total haematuria. Constant ultrosonographic findings of thickened urinary bladder wall (> 2-3 mm thickness),hyperechoic focal echogenicities of'varying size and interruption of homogenous black shadow of urinal bladder by swirling points confermed that haematuria in these dogs was due to cystitis. It appears that adjunct therapy with propantheline or piroxicam did not influence the recovery time, nevertheless, provided much needed symptomatic relief in urge incontinence.Downloads
