Abstract

Brief descriptions of linear models having applications in animal breeding are given. Methods for estimation of fixed effects, prediction of breeding values and estimation of variance components from linear models in animal breeding are reviewed. Non-negative estimates and optimal designs for estimating variance components are briefly discussed.
