The most important goal in chemotherapeutics is to achieve the desired beneficial effects of drugs with minimal adverse effects to the host cells. A ratjonal approach to achicve this objective is to apply the principles of pharmacokinetics in therapy. Pharmacokinetic analysis of a drug describes its sojourn in the body through absorption and distribution. Lot of research has been done in pharmacokinetics of antimicrobials in animals but still because of paucity of pharmacokinetic data one species the groups of antimicrobial drugs in different species of animals the practice of extrapolating the data generated from one species ro another is common. This review deals with the pharmacokinetic studies of some antimicrobial drugs conducted in our laboratory and at other places, in healthy and diseased conditions and particularly in different species o f domestic animals. The various data and dosage regimen of different antimicrobial drugs are not strict recommendations but have been presented for convenience of comparison amongst different drugs pertaining to a group or in between species of animals and conditions of health.Downloads
