Soil and environmental degradation caused by the excessive use of chemical fertilisers, along with unhygienic conditions arising from unmanaged cow dung and urine, has emerged as a major challenge in India. These practices have led to declining soil fertility, contamination of water resources, and serious environmental and public health concerns. This article focuses on an innovative and practical solution to address this pressing issue through the establishment of a ‘Gobar Bank’. The Gobar Bank model promotes the systematic collection, processing, and utilisation of cow dung and urine to produce organic manure and bio-inputs. By transforming waste into valuable agricultural resources, this approach not only reduces environmental pollution but also supports sustainable farming, improves soil health, and enhances rural livelihoods in an easy, costeffective, and eco-friendly manner.
