Abstract
In the states of north-western Himalayas, introduction of fish farming in watershed management programs makes use of natural resources effectively and helps in the socio-economic development of the region. But some preventive measures are needed to be taken up to prevent the occurence of diseases and to control Epizootic Ulcerative Syndrome in fishes. Application of lime (125 kg Ca(OH)2/ha) and industrial-grade potassium permanganate (KMnO4, 0.5 mg/l;) once in a week for 3 weeks, adding water (1000-1500 m3/ ha), thinning out fish density through partial harvesting and providing broad-spectrum antibiotic Septron- 500 (100 mg kg-1 fish feed) prevent and control occurrence of EUS in north-western Himalayas.Downloads
