Efficient Water Management for improving productivity and water-use efficiency in pulse crops
109 / 102
Abstract
As a rich source of protein, “Pulses†are widely grown in India and play a predominant role in combating malnutrition and greater role in food security. Pulses are meant for rainfed areas and pulse area under irrigation is in back drop over the years. Adoption of suitable in situ moisture conservation practice in rainfed areas coupled with best management practices ensures higher productivity per unit rain drop. Important production technologies such as fertigation, crop residue management, and efficient weed control practices resulted in increasing yield of pulse crops. Whereas, in IGP where crops are grown with assured irrigation we can accommodate more pulse crops in the existing cropping system with drip or sprinkler irrigation.Downloads
