Abstract

The impact of present system of agriculture on environment and natural resources warrant us that the agricultural growth and productivity should be coupled with environmental sustainability. Special attention and policy should be framed to convert the input-intensive agriculture system to sustainable. Research has an important role to play in sustainable agriculture. Chemical fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides should be used judiciously. The key to sustainable agriculture is possible through capacity building of farmers and all other stakeholders engaged in agricultural development for conservation of natural resources and quality food production.
