Abstract

Low-cost or cost effective fuel production is primary and essential requirements of the present scenario that can be achieving by micro-algae. Replacing all the transportation fuel from biodiesel cannot satisfy this demand of the entire world. There is need of innovation and improvisation to overcome the techno-economical barriers to compete current fossil fuels such as petroleum. This is only done by algae which are versatile organism that would fill the entire demand of energy (fuel), food and fodder supplement. Algal fuel is a viable alternative of expensive source of fossil fuel and can be use as is ‘biorefinery concept’ for integrates food and energy systems. For economic point of view algal bio-fuel is an economically sound, carbon free and cost effective technology to produce costcompetitive bio-fuels.
