Abstract

Bio-pesticides offer an ecologically effective solution to the harmful effects of synthetic pesticides. Over dependence on chemical pesticides in pest control has brought about problems:(i) pest resistance to pesticides, (ii) resurgence of pests, (iii) toxic residues in environment, (iv) elimination of natural enemies and disruption of the ecosystem, and (v) minor pests assuming major status, and (vi) lead to development of resistance, resurgence and residual problems. Advantages of bio-pesticides are eco-friendly, affect only target pest groups, biodegradable and minimal quantity is enough.
