Abstract

The sugar industry in Karnataka is one of the major sources of revenue earning and livelihood source to the millions of people including farmers, skilled-and unskilled-labours etc. Hence, the industry has to be strengthened with government support like reinstallation and upgradation of machineries and equipments from its present situations to ensure them to work in proper condition. So that, the cane growers would not have the problem of delay in cane harvest, weight loss, payment delays etc. The farmers need to be educated regarding staggering of planting of cane, supply good quality cane, avoiding excessive irrigation during the time of harvesting etc. The factories should follow the proper agreement procedures with gangs to ensure in time harvesting and transportation of sugarcane and to avoid the problem of bleaching.
