Abstract

To supplement and complement sustainable agriculture it is of prime importance to conserve the local landraces and species on the verge of extinction by deploying the state-ofthe- art technologies in seed banks. Among all the conservation methods, the seed bank is currently most commonly used, being both economical and practical for conservation. Seed bank should be established at the national and international levels and all such banks should be networked so that material, knowledge and expertise on particular crops is available on a global scale.
