Genital prolapse in bovines a farmer’s perspective

Abstract

Genital prolapse is a major, life threatening but not very common reproductive disorder in cattle and buffaloes. The genital prolapse in bovines should be managed before condition aggravates leading to death of the affected animal. Under field condition, a farmer and a paraveterinarian can administer primary care to the cow before a specialized veterinary care is arranged. This article outlines important of early treatment, diagnosis, preventive measures, and nuances of first-aid to be administered by the farmer or a para-veterinarian in cases of genital prolapse in cows.
