Abstract

The climate change and variability, which has far reaching impacts on agrarian country like India need to be managed tactfully. Agrometeorological advisories, if properly designed and disseminated on time, it can reduce crop damage and enhance the crop production. Inclusion of agro climatic characterization based crop planning in agrometeorological advisory services will help the farmers to cope with the impact of climate change. Utilization of nowcasting to identify extreme weather events and quick dissemination of advisories to minimize the crop damage should also be explored. Recent advances made in the information communication technology need to be explored fully to reach more stakeholders.
