A Study was carried out in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra to assess the constraints faced by dairy farmers. A detailed questionnaire in relation to various aspects of feeding, breeding, marketing and management constraints involved in dairy farming were enlisted and the dairy farmers from the study area were asked to rank the each constraint which were analysed using Garret’s ranking technique. It was found that the major feeding constraint was lack of availability of green fodder, breeding constraint was low productivity of animal, marketing constraint was low price of liquid milk, management constraint was lack of AI and veterinary facilities and major overall constraint considering all the above categories was lack of availability of green fodder.
